Start With What You Notice at Home.

Choose the closest symptom or source below. Each path explains what it can mean, what to test, and which treatment category may fit.

Choose a concern or start with your water source

City water and private well water can have very different starting points. A visible particle problem also needs a different solution than hard water, odor and chlorine, or a microbial concern.

How should you use these guides?

1

Confirm the water source

City water and private well water come with different records, responsibilities, and testing needs.

2

Separate the problems

Sediment, hardness, odor, chlorine, and microorganisms are different concerns, even when one treatment system contains several stages.

3

Match the product to the job

Check flow, pipe size, pressure, water conditions, installation space, and the exact model claim before ordering.

Why doesn’t one whole-home system solve everything?

Different products do different jobs. A sediment pre-filter catches visible particles but does not soften water. A physical descaler is designed for scale management but does not remove sand or lower hardness readings. Carbon can help with documented odor and residual-chlorine concerns, but the media and operating conditions must match the exact product claim. UV is a microbial-treatment step, not a filter for hardness, chemicals, or visible debris.

Start with evidence

Use a utility water report, a private-well lab test, plumbing history, and what you are seeing at home.

Check the exact model

Flow ratings and performance claims belong to a specific product and should not be applied across the entire brand.

Plan the installation

Whole-home equipment should be sized for peak demand and installed with service access by a qualified plumber or water-treatment professional.
